Synopsis
Sanatan and Indrani are in love, but Indrani has one uncompromising condition—no physical intimacy before marriage. When Kamadeva appears in Sanatan’s dream and gives him a bizarre seven-day ultimatum, Sanatan decides to take the plunge and marry her.
But their first night together seems cursed. Finding a home where they can finally begin their married life becomes an unexpected adventure, as every new place brings a new problem—and an increasingly desperate Sanatan is running out of time.
With Kamadeva himself stepping in, disguised as a real-estate broker, and one bizarre obstacle after another standing between the newlyweds and their Phoolsajya, will Sanatan ever get his perfect first night—or is something far deeper keeping the couple apart?
“In today’s world, where relationships are increasingly fragile and people are struggling to navigate the complexities of marriage, we wanted to present a romantic story through the garb of comedy. Phoolsajya explores love, insecurity and the expectations that come with relationships, while keeping the storytelling light, entertaining and relatable. Beneath the humour lies an honest articulation of some of the deepest emotions and insecurities that people experience in relationships. We are delighted to bring this unusual romantic comedy to our viewers.”— Ms. Priyanka Bardia, Director, Platform 8
“The idea behind Phoolsajya was to take a very simple question—what happens when two people in love are ready to begin their married life, but everything around them seems determined to stop them? We wanted to explore the anxieties, expectations and awkwardness that often accompany relationships, but present them through an absurd and entertaining comic world. The divine characters and the series of bizarre situations allow us to laugh at these very human insecurities, while keeping the emotional core of the story intact. At its heart, Phoolsajya is a story about love, timing and finding that one perfect moment.”— Mr. Ayan Chakraborty, Writer
