JK Urbanscapes strengthens hospitality leadership with appointment of Jayanta Das as President- Hotel Division

New Delhi, Sep 11: JK Urbanscapes has appointed Jayanta Das as PresidentHotel Division, effective September 1, 2026. Das joins the company after a 33-year career with Indian Hotels Company Limited, where he held senior leadership positions across hotel operations, business development and property expansion. He was most recently Area Director & General Manager – Northeast India, Nepal and Bhutan.

The appointment comes as JK Urbanscapes continues to develop its hospitality portfolio across markets and hotel formats. Das will lead the Hotel Division with responsibility spanning business development, hotel operations, revenue management, talent development, sustainability and stakeholder engagement, bringing extensive operating experience to the company’s growing hospitality business.

He joined IHCL in July 1993 and was appointed General Manager in 2013. Over the course of his career, he has been associated with the opening and management of greenfield and brownfield hotels, along with responsibilities spanning business growth, revenue management, guest experience, operational performance and talent development. His experience also includes sustainable hospitality initiatives, community engagement and working with stakeholders across the tourism and hospitality ecosystem.

Das has also contributed to hospitality skill development and industry initiatives during his career. In partnership with state governments and Tata STRIVE, he was involved in establishing hospitality skill development centres in Guwahati and Agartala to provide vocational training and create employment opportunities for local youth.

He currently serves as Convenor, Northeast Chapter, Hotel Association of India and Chairman, Hospitality & Tourism Committee, CII Northeast Council 2025-26. His industry associations include the Hotel & Restaurant Association of Assam, the Hotel & Restaurant Association of Northeast, IHM Guwahati and Royal Global University. He has also participated in national and international tourism forums, including the G20 Conference on Multilateral Business Partnerships in Tourism in Gangtok in 2023 and the Rising Northeast Investors Summit 2025 organised by DoNER, and was associated with the drafting committee of the Assam Tourism Policy 2023.

An alumnus of MBB College, Agartala, Das holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and a three-year Diploma in Hotel Management from IIBM, Patna. He has completed the Taj Leadership Program, the General Manager Development Program at IIM Ahmedabad and Nanyang Business School, Singapore, and the Tata Group Executive Leadership Program at Michigan Ross and Tata Management Training Centre. He is also a certified HACCP Lead Auditor from BVQI.
