New Delhi, Sep 1: A Delhi-bound IndiGo flight returned to Manohar International Airport in Goa on Tuesday after the aircraft developed a technical issue shortly after take-off.
IndiGo flight 6E 2102 departed from North Goa at around 9:16 a.m. but turned back after the crew detected the issue. Air Traffic Control declared an emergency at around 9:30 a.m. as the aircraft headed back towards the airport.
The aircraft landed safely at Manohar International Airport and all passengers disembarked without injuries. Passengers were accommodated at the airport while the airline worked on arrangements for their onward travel.
IndiGo said the pilots followed standard operating procedures after the technical issue was detected and informed the relevant authorities before returning the aircraft to Goa.
The aircraft has been taken for maintenance inspection and will be cleared for its next operation only after the necessary checks and approvals are completed.
The airline has also arranged alternative travel for the affected passengers and provided refreshments and regular updates during the disruption.
The incident reflects the precautionary safety procedures followed by airlines when a technical concern is identified during a flight. Returning to the departure airport allows the crew and ground teams to address the issue while ensuring passenger safety.
The disruption comes after IndiGo faced technical difficulties with some of its online services last month. The airline had reported intermittent problems with its reservation system, which affected certain services including flight bookings and web check-ins.
