From winning the Filmfare Award for Best Female Debut for her performance in Bunty Aur Babli 2 to joining the 100-crore club with Munjya, delivering a critically acclaimed performance in Imtiaz Ali's Main Vaapas Aaunga and stepping into Yash Raj Films' action film Alpha alongside Alia Bhatt, Sharvari has steadily emerged as one of the most exciting young actors in Hindi cinema. Gracing the cover of Grazia India's August-September 2026 issue, the actor opens up about her commitment to versatility, her deep-rooted passion for cinema, her evolving approach to her craft, her journey from working behind the camera to becoming an actor, and learning to embrace risks along the way.
Reflecting on her approach to choosing roles, she says, "Early on in my career, I realised that I needed to be versatile for my survival in the industry, especially by not boxing myself into a particular genre."
Speaking about her relationship with her craft and the place cinema holds in her life, she says, "I love being consumed by my work, and I am obsessed with it. I constantly think about it 24/7. It’s what keeps me alive."
Opening up about the challenges of stepping into Alpha, she says, "Alpha was a physically demanding film, but I think a bigger challenge was mentally stepping into a world that was so new to me, and I think that there was a certain scale and intensity to the film that required me to push myself every day.”
Reflecting on the theatrical experience and the audience's relationship with cinema, she says, “If you make a good film, with all your heart, people will come to watch it; they will reciprocate ten times more the love it was made with.”
Before stepping in front of the camera, Sharvari worked as a director's assistant on films including Pyaar Ka Punchnama 2, Bajirao Mastani and Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety. Looking back at those formative years, she shares, "One of the most enriching experiences of my life has been being the DA on all these films. At the time, I was struggling to get an acting job, and I had been auditioning for many years. But I wanted to see firsthand if I wanted to work in the industry, so when I was offered the DA roles, I took them on.”
Reflecting on how her approach to her career has evolved, she says, “I think when I started out, I was very conscious of getting everything right. But today, I'm much more comfortable with taking risks, making mistakes and figuring things out along the way.”
