MoPNG Ensures Uninterrupted LPG Supply Amid Global Energy Crisis; Over 18 Crore Cylinders Delivered Since March 2026

New Delhi, April 8: Amid global energy disruptions affecting fuel availability worldwide, the Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas (MoPNG) has successfully maintained stable LPG supply across India. Since March 1, 2026, over 18 crore LPG cylinders have been delivered, with daily distribution exceeding 60 lakh cylinders, ensuring households continue to have reliable access to clean cooking fuel.

India’s LPG ecosystem, despite ~60% import dependence and global supply concentrations via the Strait of Hormuz, has remained resilient. The Government swiftly implemented measures to enhance domestic production and diversify sourcing across multiple geographies, ensuring supply continuity and stability even under challenging external conditions.

While some consumers experienced localized delivery delays due to surges in demand and last-mile operational challenges, these instances have been transient. Focused actions are underway to streamline distribution, improve delivery timelines, and strengthen field-level monitoring.

Importantly, there have been no widespread supply disruptions, and LPG availability across distributorships remains robust. Coordination with Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) continues to ensure smooth operations and timely response to any emergent issues.

The Government has also implemented calibrated measures to shield consumers from global price volatility. Special attention has been given to Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY) beneficiaries, ensuring affordability and access to clean cooking fuel.

“The uninterrupted LPG supply amid global disruptions reflects the strength and resilience of India’s energy ecosystem. Our focus remains on ensuring safe, affordable, and continuous access to LPG for every household while enhancing distribution efficiency and transparency,” said an official from the Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas.
