New Delhi, Oct 4, 2024: The BRICS Fashion Summit, taking place in Moscow from October 3 to 5, is set to create new connections between India and Russia. This event sees China, India, and Russia come together to form a significant force in the fashion industry, bringing together over 100 countries. It marks a pivotal moment for international cooperation, fostering partnerships and facilitating the exchange of ideas among leading designers and fashion associations across the globe.

The agreements made at the BRICS+ Fashion Summit 2023 have opened up new opportunities for designers from both India and Russia. Notably, the Russian modest brand MEASURE showcased its impressive collection at Lakmé Fashion Week X FDCI, a wonderful achievement that stemmed from a bilateral agreement made at the previous summit. Additionally, renowned Indian brands like Geisha Designs, led by the designer duo Paras Bairoliya and Shalini Jaikaria, and NITIN BAL CHAUHAN, shone brightly during the latest season of Moscow Fashion Week. These collaborations emphasize the significance of intercultural exchange and highlight the flourishing interaction between India and Russia within the fashion realm.

Sunil Sethi, Chairman of the Fashion Design Council of India, expressed optimism about the exchanges, stating, “The outcome of these exchanges has been highly encouraging. India’s presence in the Russian fashion market presents immense potential. Russian consumers are increasingly gravitating towards unique, handcrafted fashion pieces that tell a story, and India’s rich heritage of textiles, embroidery, and design perfectly aligns with this trend. Indian designers can leverage platforms like the BRICS+ Fashion Summit to enter the Russian market with collections that blend tradition and contemporary appeal.”

One of the Summit’s highlights is the ‘Heritage’ exhibition, which celebrates the rich cultural traditions of the BRICS+ countries. This exhibition aims to foster international dialogue and enrich participants’ understanding of each other’s cultural identities, illuminating the sources of inspiration for modern fashion in emerging countries.

Taking place alongside the BRICS+ Fashion Summit, Moscow Fashion Week strengthens the future of fashion through cross-cultural collaboration. Indian representation will include the contemporary fashion brand NITIN BAL CHAUHAN presented by the Fashion Design Council of India and known for its artistic approach to Indo-Western fashion, adding further depth to this vibrant exchange.
