Delhi, January 10, 2025 – In a demonstration of advanced surgical capabilities, surgeons at Dharamshila Narayana Superspeciality Hospital have successfully performed a complex robotic pancreatic surgery, showcasing the hospital’s commitment to cutting-edge medical care.

Dr. Kapil Kumar Kursiwal and Dr. Sachin Jain from the Department of Gastrointestinal Surgery, GI Oncology, Minimal Access & Bariatric Surgery have successfully performed a robotic Frey’s procedure (lateral pancreatico-jejunostomy) on a 44-year-old patient suffering from chronic pancreatitis. This sophisticated procedure, traditionally performed through open surgery, was completed using state-of-the-art robotic technology, demonstrating the hospital’s expertise in minimally invasive surgical techniques.

“This successful surgery represents a significant advancement in treating complex gastrointestinal conditions,” said Dr. Kapil Kumar, Senior Consultant and Lead of the surgical team. “By utilizing robotic assistance we achieved unprecedented precision and control, resulting in better outcomes for our patient.”

The patient, who had experienced severe abdominal pain requiring multiple hospitalizations over a period of six months, showed remarkable recovery following this surgery. Despite the complexity of the procedure, which traditionally would have required extensive recovery time, the patient was able to begin walking on the first postoperative day and was discharged within four days.
