Udan 2.0 Welcomes Sustainability: Bootes & Modair to Train Next-Gen PilotsGurgaon February 27th, 2025: BOOTES, India’s leading Net-Zero Construction and Engineering Company, and MODAIR Aviation, a leader in sustainable aviation, have announced a ground-breaking joint venture to redefine the future of aviation in India. The partnership aims to build India’s first Net-Zero Airport for Pilot Training and reverse engineering in Battery-Operated Net-Zero Aircraft, towards positioning India at the forefront of global sustainable air travel.

India’s aviation sector is on the cusp of exponential growth, with market estimates projecting a ₹20,000 Cr in the next three years. Despite being the world’s third largest aviation market, India has only 2,500 aircraft and 276 active helicopters, compared to the United States’ 2.5 lakh aircraft—highlighting a massive demand supply gap and an immense growth potential. The Indian helicopter market is also expected to grow significantly, with the global civil helicopter market forecasted to reach USD 14.42 billion by 2032, growing at a CAGR of 7.24%. India is expected to become a global hub for pilot training within the next decade. However, to meet future demand, the country requires over 50,000 new pilots and over 4,000 new training aircraft.

The BOOTES-MODAIR joint venture will accelerate India’s leadership in Net-Zero aviation by building India’s First Net-Zero Airport for Pilot Training, Introduction of Battery-Operated Aircraft for sustainable aviation, Sustainable Flight Training Infrastructure aligned with UDAN 2.0 and development of Aviation Experience Centers & Flight Showrooms for test drives.

By leveraging cutting-edge engineering, renewable energy, and carbon-neutral design, this partnership aims to equip India’s pilot training institutes with over 2,500 aircraft, connect over 50 pilot training centers under a Net-Zero Institute, and develop world-class training facilities to build an aviation ecosystem that reduces emissions while maximizing efficiency.

“We should be so self-sufficient that the world looks up to us for aviation training. This joint venture aligns with our Prime Minister’s Atmanirbhar Bharat vision and will play a crucial role in making India a global leader in sustainable aviation. Partnering with BOOTES strengthens our commitment to creating a cleaner, greener aviation ecosystem.” said Atul Jain, Founder & Owner, MODAIR Aviation IFSC Pvt Ltd

This partnership is not just about infrastructure; it is about fostering game-changing innovation in aviation technology. The partnership will drive R&D for Battery Operated Aircraft for commercial & training use, Advanced Sustainable Practices to make aviation carbon-neutral, and Integration of AI & Smart Technologies for efficient operations.

“The aviation industry is at a turning point where sustainability is no longer an option—it is a necessity. Through this joint venture, we are engineering a new era of clean aviation. By merging BOOTES’ expertise in Net-Zero Construction & Engineering with MODAIR’s leadership in aviation technology, we are confident that India will emerge as a global pioneer in sustainable flight.” Said Deepak Rai, Managing Director, BOOTES

This partnership represents a ₹5000 Cr investment over the next five years. The goal is not just to develop Net-Zero aviation in India, but to set new global benchmarks in clean, efficient, and sustainable air travel. With sustainability at its core, the BOOTES-MODAIR partnership will shape the future of India’s aviation industry, ensuring the country is not just a participant in global aviation—but a leader in Net-Zero aviation technology.
