27th August 2024, Renowned Bollywood singer and composer Shibani Kashyap is set to make history as the first Indian artist to perform at the prestigious “Sharq Taronalari” XIII International Music Festival in Samarkand, Uzbekistan. The festival, which runs from August 26 to 30, 2024, is one of Central Asia’s largest and most esteemed music festivals. Kashyap’s invitation to perform at the gala closing ceremony on August 30 marks a significant milestone in her illustrious career and further cements her global appeal.

“Sharq Taronalari,” which translates to “Melodies of the East,” is an international festival dedicated to showcasing and celebrating the rich musical traditions of the world. Held under the auspices of UNESCO, the festival has grown significantly since its inception in 1997, when it first welcomed performers from 31 countries. By 2019, participation had expanded to 75 countries, underscoring the event’s global significance.

The XIII edition of the festival promises to be grander than ever, with over 300 participants from more than 70 countries set to perform at the iconic Registan Square, a UNESCO World Heritage site renowned for its stunning architecture and historical significance. The festival’s objectives include promoting national music arts, preserving cultural traditions, supporting young talents, and fostering international creative collaborations.

Kashyap’s performance at the closing ceremony is eagerly anticipated by both local and international audiences. Known for her unique blend of Sufi rock and pop music, Shibani Kashyap has made significant contributions to the Indian music industry with hits like “Sajna Aa Bhi Ja” and “Zinda Hoon Main.” Her music, characterized by its soulful lyrics and distinctive style, has earned her a dedicated fan base not just in India, but worldwide.
