Hyderabad, India – September 30, 2024 – Recykal, a frontrunner in India’s sustainability and circular economy, has been recognised as a member of the Global Innovators Community by the World Economic Forum (WEF). Its inclusion in the Global Innovators Community not only underscores its role as a leader in the waste management sector but also aligns with the World Economic Forum’s mission to foster innovation in addressing the world’s most pressing challenges. Recykal has achieved the distinction of being one of only two Indian companies featured on this list, demonstrating its leadership in the IT sector.

The World Economic Forum’s Global Innovators Community is an exclusive group of the world’s most innovative companies, selected for their ability to address pressing global issues through pioneering solutions. Recykal’s presence in this community underscores its pioneering role in formalizing India’s largely informal waste management sector. As a trailblazing technology-driven solution provider, Recykal serves as a key link between producers, waste generators, government agencies, and other stakeholders within the Indian waste management industry.

“We are honoured to be a part of the Global Innovators Community,” said Abhay Deshpande, CEO of Recykal. “Recykal’s vision is to channelise 10% of India’s waste by 2027. This recognition is a testament to our efforts to bring about a drastic shift in waste management practices, including mass behavioural change. Through our AI-backed technology, we are enabling a transition towards a more sustainable future. We aim to digitise waste aggregators, help businesses with end-to-end traceability on the lifecycle of products, and enable government agencies to achieve their waste management goals. ”

The Annual Meeting 2025 of the World Economic Forum, organised from 20–24 January, will convene global leaders to address critical global and regional challenges, including responding to geopolitical shocks, stimulating growth to improve living standards, and stewarding a just and inclusive energy transition. “Last year, our Co-Founder and CSO, Anirudh Jalan, presented our vision for transforming waste management in India,” added Deshpande.

Recykal earned the prestigious recognition of WEF Tech Pioneer in 2022 and has been previously invited to the World Economic Forum’s Annual Meeting in Davos for the past two years.
