A Sugar Coated Streetwear Throwback

Sweets, sneakers & a cultural mashup – PUMA × Pista Barfi. A throwback that still leaves a sweet after taste!

Pista Barfi, the playful homegrown mithai brand, recently made waves with its appearance on Shark Tank India. Driven to reinvent traditional sweets, the brand is pushing Indian mithai into a new cultural space – one that’s bold, witty and unbound by convention.

One of their boldest moves came last year when sports brand PUMA India collaborated with Pista Barfi for a limited-edition confectionary ode to its heritage sneaker Palermo. Together, they blurred the trending lines between fashion and food, translating PUMA’s Palermo colour palette into two custom mithais, Mysore pak and aam papad- proving the power of sensorial marketing.

The collaboration had worked because the story was bigger than the dessert. It was design-first, aesthetic-led and rooted in shared cues: colour, craft, nostalgia and modern India’s remix culture. Retro met contemporary, and tradition met irreverence- a sweet spot that felt truly authentic, not engineered.

Of late, brands across sectors are teaming up to create unique cultural moments engaging multiple senses – one that today’s evolving consumer doesn’t just see, but feels, tastes and remembers forever.
