Shabd Shaurya, 4-Year-Old from Pune, Becomes World’s Youngest TEDx Speaker at TEDxVBIT Event in Hyderabad

In a remarkable and inspiring achievement, 4-year-old Shabd Shaurya from Pune delivered a talk at the TEDxVBIT, hosted at Vignana Bharathi Institute of Technology . At just 4 years and 31 days old, Shabd is now recognized as the world’s youngest TEDx speaker, marking a significant milestone in early-age public speaking and thought leadership. His talk, titled “The Power of Stories for Children,” explored how storytelling plays a vital role in shaping imagination, emotional understanding, and learning during early childhood.

Shabd is recognized as a young speaker and budding author with exceptional memory, early learning abilities, and remarkable confidence at a very young age. His work focuses on storytelling, curiosity, and early childhood development, encouraging parents and educators to use stories as a powerful tool to nurture creativity and emotional intelligence in children.

The TEDxVBIT event featured a diverse lineup of speakers including filmmakers, actors, entrepreneurs, and V. Balakista Reddy, Chairman of the Telangana State Council of Higher Education. Despite being the youngest speaker, Shabd stood out for his calm stage presence and clarity of expression, receiving an appreciative response from the audience.

Sharing his thoughts during the talk, Shabd said,

“Screens just show us things… but stories make us imagine things. When I listen to stories, I can see animals talking, rockets flying, and even myself inside the story. And when I imagine more, I start learning more and creating new ideas.”

The idea behind his talk stems from a simple yet powerful observation: in today’s fast-paced digital world, children are increasingly surrounded by screens and constant stimulation, while storytelling is often overlooked. Through his own experience, Shabd highlighted how stories can support learning, spark imagination, and help children better understand the world around them.

His message emphasized that storytelling is not merely entertainment, but a foundational tool that contributes to a child’s cognitive and emotional development. By bringing this perspective to a TEDx platform, Shabd offered a unique viewpoint — a child sharing what truly helps a child grow.

Speaking about this milestone, his parents Rimpy and Vikrant Shaurya said,

“We have always encouraged Shabd to explore learning through stories from a very young age. Seeing him step onto a platform like TEDx and share this message with confidence is a proud and emotional moment for our family.”

This milestone highlights a powerful idea: meaningful perspectives are not defined by age, but by clarity of thought and authenticity. Shabd Shaurya’s journey stands as an inspiring example of how young minds, when nurtured in the right environment, can create meaningful impact.
